Lucian Nehemiah, founder and designer
of WCG (Well Connected Gear), is a native of Newark, New Jersey. With his early interest
in fashion magazines, love for hip-hop dancing and extensive retail experience in some of New York’s exclusive stores
such as Neiman Marcus, Tiffany & Co. and Bloomingdales, Lucian was inspired to create his own line, one which stands for
diversity and incorporates comfort, style and elegance.
His fashion line is influenced from
his days of professional hip-hop dancing, the nightclub scene and urban fashion. Initially, Lucian designed
and started a line of hip, colorful baseball caps, which soon expanded to sweatshirts, athletic gear, tee-shirts, classic
baseball shirts and loose fitting denim jeans. His marketing strategy utilized a crew of “human billboards”
to spread the Well Connected Gear gospel throughout the Midwest. In 1994, he produced his first fashion show at Café
Monmartre in Madison, Wisconsin. With the funding of various State Street clothing stores and the use of
local college students as models, the show proved to be a successful and profitable entrée into the fashion industry.
Before long, Well Connected Gear was a hit, worn by celebrities and featured in “The Source” Magazine,
Black Entertainment Television (BET) Live and “Phat Clips”.
Lucian believes that “Well Connected
Gear” is the face of everyday people. Now, fashion fiends worldwide can finally experience his design
magic by shopping on his WCG Online Shop at www.wellconnectedgear.com.
